Unruly Salzkammergut by Dr. Helmut Kalss!
The Salzkammergut has a long history of non-conformity and unruliness. The line of tradition extends from the poachers to the "red Salzkammergut". During the National Socialist era in particular, the Salzkammergut was a focal point of resistance against the regime. Even though the horrors of war have been overcome, the region is still characterized by an often bizarre renitence.
