Winter sports in the Ausseerland region
When thinking of winter sports, many first think of skiing, cross-country skiing and winter hiking. But in Ausseerland there are other activities for unforgettable winter moments.
Enjoying dreamlike views while tobogganing. Breathe in fresh winter air while ice skating. Experience leisurely sleigh rides through the snow-covered landscape. Spend sociable hours curling. A hot chocolate, a Zottler or a Lupitscher - two traditional drinks from the Ausseerland - to warm up are the crowning conclusion of your winter moment in the Ausseerland.
Tobogganing fun in Ausseerland for the whole family
"Schlittgoasreitn" sounds like a lot of fun. And that's exactly what's hidden behind the term typical of Ausseerland: tobogganing is a universally popular winter sport and an integral part of what's on offer at the Loser, Tauplitz and Zlaim ski resorts.
Take a toboggan from the rental of the toboggan runs in Ausseerland, and off you go. On foot, by lift or even directly on the toboggan you get up towards the tobogganing fun. At the top you can enjoy the fantastic view of the Ausseerland. And what follows is pure pleasure: Adventurously the way leads on two runners back to the valley and to the refreshment stop in the hut.
Night owls toboggan on the Grafenwiese night toboggan run in Tauplitz until 8:30 p.m. and in Zlaim until 10:00 p.m
Ice skating in Ausseerland Salzkammergut
In the middle of the hustle and bustle of Altaussee and Bad Mitterndorf leisurely laps or skillfully turn a few pirouettes: In Ausseerland, all ice skating enthusiasts will find a suitable spot.
The right equipment is available at the skate rental shops on site.
Icy fun until 8:00 p.m.: Even in the evening hours, skating continues on the ice rinks in Altaussee and Bad Mitterndorf.

Dreamlike horse-drawn sleigh rides through Ausseerland
Climb aboard, snuggle into a warm blanket - and off you go on your ride to happiness. Glittering blankets of snow on the meadows and atmospheric light shows on frozen streams: These and many other natural spectacles enchant on a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the winter wonder of Ausseerland.
Every Tuesday: In Bad Mitterndorf, a special horse-drawn sleigh line makes its rounds between Obersdorf and Krungl every Tuesday during the winter months.
Socializing: Curling in Ausseerland
What has its origins in the far north is a real popular sport in Ausseerland, which has been enjoyed by young and old alike for years.
The aim is to shoot the ice stick as close as possible to the stave with a good swing. There is hardly any other winter sport where coziness, fun and sporting ambition of the traditional folk sport flow into each other as they do on the curling rinks in Ausseerland.
