The local children perform the traditional St. Nicholas play in front of the Tauplitz village hall itself.
The St. Nicholas game for adults is held annually on December 5.
A few days before this peasant everyman game, the youth of the village also perform this scary game. The texts of this game are over 100 years old and have kept their original wording until today. Various stories are told, such as that of the beggar who tells the priest of his shameful deeds, but shows no remorse. Death then appears in the form of the Grim Reaper and strikes him down. The Bearded Man comes with a basket full of sweets for the children and wears a mask smiling from all sides. The Prince of Hell Lucifer carries a trident and is held by two smaller Krampuses. The marriage devil reports on the marriages he breaks up. St. Nicholas is accompanied by an angel and questions the children about the Bible, rewarding correct answers with fruit, nuts and sweets. You should pay special attention to the blacksmith and the goat, because these figures have only nonsense in their heads.
