The European theater scene gathers at the Hofburgtheater in Vienna during the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph.
The Hofburg actors and actesses, Germans from the north, Germans from the south, especially from the Habsburg lands, made the theater a cultural hotspot.
Shakespeare, Calderon, Moliére and Ibsen were just as much at home here in Lessing as Goethe and Schiller. In this way, classical education was acutally imparted at this European theater.
In the Gabillonhaus, where the Hofburg acting couple Ludwig and Zerlinde Gabillon spent their summer months, we want to bring to mind some of the flair of this unique theater life.
