ski jump Kulm

Tauplitz

The local mountain of the Hinterberg valley, the Grimming (2.351 meters), is preceded by the Kulm, on which the largest natural ski jump in the world is located. The word "KULM" is of Celtic origin and means "upstream mountain".

The Kulm ski jump was built in 1950 and was jumped in by Hubert Neuper senior, among others. Since 1953, international World Cup events have been held here time and again.

On September 2, 2004, the official groundbreaking ceremony took place to bring the ski jump at Kulm to the most modern state of the art. The first reconstruction works concerned the new double chairlift, which mainly supports the athletes as an ascent aid.

At the FIS Ski Flying World Championships 2006, the new start house directly above the inrun track proved itself for the first time as a waiting room and snack bar for the ski flyers.

The ski jump is also an interesting and popular destination during the summer months. Due to its worldwide fame, the Kulm is a special sight for many visitors and travel groups.

Thanks to the support of the market town of Bad Mitterndorf and in cooperation with the Kulm organization office, it was possible to add several display and information boards to one of the most modern ski jumping facilities. The many interested tourists, cyclists, mountain bikers, Nordic walkers, guests and locals are not only the 50-year history to the present time, but also the last winners and the technical data of the ski jump vividly presented.

In order to give the guests and families also the possibility to have a rest at the ski jump, a snack bar with drinks, snacks as well as toilet facilities completes the offer.
