The starting point for a pleasant hike through the alpine pastures for the whole family is at the end of the Johnsbach Valley. The so-called "Johnsbacher Almenrunde" leads over panoramic paths to 4 managed alpine pastures, which can be hiked individually or as a leisurely tour. Part of the route is also passable for mountain bikes. We recommend the following route: Car park Ebneralm - Kölblalm - Huberalm - Ebneralm - Zeiringeralm - car park.
Already at the beginning of this leisurely family hike, impressive photo motifs await you along the breathtaking gorge in the Teufelsklamm, which in winter also serves as a toboggan run from the Ebneralm. And from numerous places along the way you can enjoy wonderful views of the Johnsbach Valley. All four alpine pastures are happy to serve you delicious homemade and regional delicacies from June to September.

More information
Gesaeuse federal road B 146 to Johnsbach junction, then approx. 10 km to Ebnerkreuzung car park
At the Ebnerkreuzung car park we head north, past the Ebnerhof and the Klammstüberl with its many bizarre wood carvings up into the Teufelsklamm. We pass through a rock gate, cross a bridge and walk uphill along the stream. We leave the turnoff to the Ebneralm on the right, we approach the Ebneralm later from another side. After about 1/2 hour we reach the Kölblalm. It has a 1,000-year-old history, which is connected with the rich iron and copper deposits in the Johnsbach valley. A Rauchkuchl and a cosy parlour invite you to stop for a bite to eat. But it is even nicer on a sunny day in the garden. And so the dairymaid serves cool cider and a hearty snack while we look at the landscape and watch the cows on the alpine pastures. The mother-cow husbandry has proved to be very successful and we are looking forward to a juicy piece of Styria Beef at the Kölblwirt. Freshly strengthened we start our way again, which leads us without major ascents into the wide and lovely alpine pasture area of the Johnsbacher Neuburgalm. This is where the Huberbauer has been farming his alpine pasture for several years and invites you to stop for a bite to eat. The Neuburgalm is also an area steeped in history and on the occasion of a hike in the history of mining offered by the Gesäuse National Park, you can see places where copper and iron were smelted 1000 years ago, or discover slag remains. We walk back along the path until we come to the fork in path no. 669. We take this and walk "Übereck" to the Ebneralm. The Ebneralm belongs to the Ebner farm where we started our tour. It offers the most beautiful view from the 4 huts on our tour. The Johnsbachtal with the Reichenstein in the background lies at our feet. It goes without saying that we are also well catered for here. We hike a short way back until we meet path no. 669 again, which we follow downhill. On a forest path we finally reach the last station of our alpine round - the Zeiringer or Zossegg alpine pasture. On the terrace you can enjoy a snack or coffee and cake. After a 15-minute walk we finally reach the first farm of Johnsbach, after another 1/4 hour our parking lot at the Ebner crossing.
the Ebneralm is also directly accessible via the romantic rock path
