Road bike tour Reisstrasse

This beautiful round trip is much more demanding than the tour data would suggest. Especially the descent via the Meranstrasse in the direction of Kleinlobming in the adventure region murtal is extremely steep and winding.
The tour leads us from Spielberg via Zeltweg, Weißkirchen over the Reisstraße to Kleinfeistritz and over the Meranstraße to Kleinlobming in the adventure region Murtal. We start at the Red Bull Ring and drive west, after a few hundred meters (before Flatschach) we turn left. We pass the military airport Zeltweg. Attention here is a traffic light in the middle of the track - if it is red please really stop - then you can watch a landing or a takeoff from the airport. At the main road we turn right, direction west. At the traffic circle we take the 3rd exit towards the train station. We now follow the road to the train station and from here we continue to follow the road. We continue towards the center of Weißkirchen. Then we follow the road to the east, in the direction of Kleinfeistritz. Here the slope begins and we ride the next kilometers steadily uphill. From Kleinfeistritz we continue in the direction of Gaberl. This is the so-called Reisstrasse. We then meet the Gaberlstrasse, this is more heavily traveled, especially by motorcyclists. After a few kilometers the Meranstraße leaves to the left. A beautiful but in places very steep and winding road. Do not underestimate this part of the tour. From Kleinlobming we roll comfortably out into the valley and can orient ourselves by the signs of the bike node system, which show us the way back to the Red Bull Ring.

In Kleinlobming there is a fountain with drinking water, a small grocery store, good inns and a nice swimming pool on the village square.
As the tour passes the Zeltweg railway station, it is very easy to join the tour.
Extensive parking and refreshment facilities are available at the Red Bull Ring. Attention - the access road is closed during major events. As an alternative starting point, we would suggest the Zeltweg train station. Free parking is also available here - and you can start the tour directly.
