Wallfahrtskirche zum heiligen Antonius

Radmer

An impressive sight from the year 1602.

Radmer an der Stube (also called Vorderradmer) is the main village of the valley. Here you can find an impressive sight: the baroque pilgrimage church "Zum heiligen Antonius von Padua", built in 1602 by Emperor Ferdinand II, which is one of the most beautiful churches in the country.

With the beginning of copper mining, in the middle of the 16th century at the time of the Reformation, there was also a settlement in the area of the Radmer Valley.

Then, in the course of the Counter-Reformation, the baroque church donated by Archduke Ferdinand II of Austria was built between 1600 and 1602. On October 15, 1951, the building was severely damaged in a fire, but was restored by 1953.

In the interior of the church, the first glance inevitably falls on the magnificent ceiling decorated with stucco and the wonderful frescoes on it by an unfortunately unknown artist. The rest of the baroque interior is also magnificent, which is very artistically worked and rounds off the picture of a high baroque church interior.
