Innovation Award

2021

Yesterday, the Gesäuse Partner Network presented the Innovation Award for the region's greatest innovations for the third time.

"Kletterführer Gesäuse"

1ST PLACE

The Gesäuse climbing guide combines alpine climbing with nature conservation in a unique way, as it also refers to areas in the Gesäuse National Park where climbing is prohibited and voluntary climbing is not permitted. The ascents and descents are guided by ecological considerations," says Jürgen Reinmüller, a state-certified mountain and ski guide from Admont, describing the special submission. 1040 climbing routes and variants, i.e. all those documented since the beginning of mountaineering in the Gesäuse, have been written down in the book together with topo sketches. The publisher of the book is the Admont Mountain Rescue Service, which thus contributes to increasing safety in alpine terrain when climbers are planning their tours. But that's not all, as the climbing guide also aims to ensure overnight stays through the precise documentation of all routes in the Gesäuse and thus also contribute to gentle tourism in the region.

"Gemeinschaftsgarten Ardning"

2ND PLACE

In his laudatory speech at the award ceremony, Herbert Wölger, Director of the National Park, was delighted that a community garden grows much more than just vegetables: it creates a community for the exchange of knowledge between generations. The jury particularly emphasised the sustainability and social relevance of the project. The Ardning community garden is a meeting place for young and old and therefore for everyone who is interested in the sustainable cultivation of fruit and vegetables.

"Gästehaus ZeitRaum"

3RD PLACE

The hand-forged bronze award went to the ZeitRaum guesthouse in Admont. The guesthouse, which has now been in existence for a year, is evidence of a lively catering and accommodation industry in the region, says a delighted Uli Matlschweiger, restaurateur and industry spokesperson for the Gesäuse Partners, who presented the award to Daniela Noichl-Dirninger from Admont. At the ZeitRaum guesthouse, hospitality is a top priority and sustainability is not just a buzzword, it is consciously practised.
