This romantically situated lake was created around the turn of the century by the Krupp family of industrialists. Named after the patron saint of hunters, St. Hubertus, the lake is a paradise for many animal species and recreation seekers.
The lake is about 9 km away from Mariazell.
The Bruder Klaus Church is located on the northern shore of the lake. A beautiful footpath leads around the lake - the Reininger Inn - also known as the "Wuchtlwirtin" - is available for refreshments.
Romantically situated on the northern shore of the Hubertussee, the Bruder-Klaus-Kirche was the first church in Austria to be dedicated to the Swiss Nicholas of the Flüe. The life of Brother Klaus is depicted in the artistically designed windows of the church, which is often chosen by wedding couples for their wedding ceremony (closed in winter). I
n addition to the winter hike, there are also perfectly groomed cross-country ski trails that start from the Wuchtlwirtin - you can find an overview here
Lake Hubertussee is beautiful in every season. If you wish to stop for a break, please note the opening hours of the Wuchtlwirtin!
