This romantically situated lake was created by the industrial family Krupp at the turn of the century. The lake, named after the patron saint of hunters, St. Hubertus, is a paradise for many animal species.
The lake is approx. 9 km from Mariazell.
On the north shore of the lake is the Bruder Klaus church. A beautiful walking trail leads around the lake - to stop for a bite to eat, the inn Reininger - also known as "Wuchtlwirtin" - is available.
Enjoy the beautiful surroundings also on a circular hike through the Black Forest or on the Arthur Krupp Monument Trail. The romantically situated Bruder-Klaus-Kirche was the first church in Austria dedicated to the Swiss Nicholas of Flüe. In the artfully designed windows of the church, which is often chosen by wedding couples for their wedding ceremony, the life of Brother Klaus is depicted.
Relax - Experience - Experience!
The new WohlfühlWeg leads over two kilometers along the northern shore of the Hubertussee. The path from the Wuchtlwirtin along the White Walster offers the opportunity for leisurely walks and is just as suitable for parents with strollers as for pleasure hikers or people with limited mobility. "Nestled in the Mariazell forest landscape and thanks to its diverse nature, Lake Hubertus is an excellent place for a feel-good trail," explains Gottfried Schöggl of the Friends of Nature Mariazell, who played a key role in establishing the trail.
Experience nature consciously Under the title "Well-being Paths", the Friends of Nature, together with the Austrian Federal Forests, are developing offers for a conscious experience of nature. This is based on scientific studies that show that spending time in nature promotes human well-being. In line with the motto "Relax - Experience - Experience", the well-being trails offer selected mindfulness and relaxation exercises that enable a conscious experience of nature and its health-promoting effects.
Background information on fauna and flora as well as nature experience games along the paths also open the view to the natural beauty and encourage the perception of nature with all senses.
