Family hike to the Waxriegelhaus in the Mürzer Oberland Nature Park
Along a wide and easy hiking trail with no significant inclines, the route leads gently uphill from Preiner Gscheid to the Siebenbrunnerwiese. From there, the trail continues effortlessly with beautiful close-up views of the Predigstuhl and the Raxenmäuer, all the way to the Waxriegelhaus.
This hike is doable in almost any season and is even recommended as a sledding route in winter.

From Preiner Gscheid, the trail initially follows a former ski slope, climbing a bit more steeply at first. Soon, the incline eases, and the route continues comfortably along a wide and clearly visible path, passing an alpine hut before reaching the Siebenbrunnerwiese.
Here, a magnificent view opens up of the southern cliffs of the Predigtstuhl and the western Raxenmäuer. Keeping to the right, the trail ascends again — either along a footpath or a forest road — to the clearly visible Waxriegelhaus.
The return follows the same route. To top it off, the Edelweißhütte at Preiner Gscheid awaits all thirsty and hungry hikers at the end of the tour.
The Waxriegelhaus is the starting point for numerous mountain tours throughout the entire southern Rax region.
