Mariazeller Bürgeralpe direct ascent (from St. Sebastian)

Closed
The tour starts at the valley station of the north lift and runs in the forest to the right along the family descent to the Bürgeralpe.
The Mariazeller Bürgeralpe is an absolute insider tip for all touring skiing novices as well as those who feel like a short tour. In winter, the BikeAlps Family Trail (T), which runs through the forest next to the family downhill run (FIS II), is the perfect ascent for touring skiers away from the slopes.

Touring skier card Bürgeralpe: A touring skier card (day pass or season pass) is mandatory for the ascent and descent on the Bürgeralpe. The tariff regulations can be found at www.buergeralpe.at

Every Friday, selected pistes are exempt from piste closure for the ski touring evening until 8:30 pm.On all other days the piste closure from 17.00 - 08.30 are to be observed absolutely!

.Coming from Salzburg:

Take the A1 Westautobahn to the Ybbs exit, then the B25 to Scheibbs, from there two options:Either the B28 via Wastl am Wald to the B20, then via Annaberg and Josefsberg or the B25 on to Grubberg and then the B71 via the newly expanded Zellerrain.

Coming from Vienna:

Take the A1 Westautobahn to the St. Pölten Süd exit, then the B20 (Mariazeller Bundesstraße) 76 km south, either via Annaberg and Josefsberg or in Freiland turn left from the B20 onto the B21 and continue via Hohenberg and St. Aegyd through the Halltal valley to Mariazell (sufficiently signposted).

Variant: Südautobahn A2 and S6 Semmering expressway to Mürzzuschlag, then via Neuberg and Mürzsteg on the B21 to Mariazell.

The Mariazeller Bürgeralpe offers 3 ascent routes for touring skiers. These can be combined at will. We start the ski tour at the chairlift valley station in St. Sebastian (here we can also park our car free of charge).

Now we follow the practice slope "Zuckerwiese" and keep to the right until we reach the "FIS II - Family Downhill". There we turn right into the forest and follow the touring ski trail through the forest. Partly next to the ski run and partly next to the toboggan run, we then reach the summit after about 1 hour.

After the ascent, a stop at the mountain inn or the Edelweißhütte is a good idea and afterwards we enjoy the descent on one of the perfectly groomed slopes.

Rest at the Edelweißhütte or at the Berggasthof Bürgeralpe
