More information
We begin our hike at the Waldschule, located close to the path leading to Peter Rosegger's birthplace. From there, we walk along the forest path to the birthplace, where we join Route 3. The trail then takes us past the Kluppenegger Alm and alpine meadows to the Schmiedhofer Hirschgatter.
We continue across the bridge to the Lendkreuz, situated by the stream. Our journey continues on Route 3, passing the Ziesler Alm and heading towards Ziesler Anger. We then follow a forest and municipal road to the Almhalt above the Zottler farm (vlg. Rossegger), where we soon reach the Heidenbauerkreuz.
Turning left, we pass by Gasthof Schlagobersbauer (where you can also stop for a break) and turn left at the Großheidenbauer (Filzmoser farm), joining Route 3 once again, which leads directly back to Rosegger's Waldschule. From here, it’s only a short walk back to the starting point of our hike – the Waldschule.
Don't miss the visit to Peter Rosegger's birthplace and the Waldschule! Tip: In Krieglach, you'll find the Rosegger Museum – a must-see for anyone interested in Rosegger!
Snack station at Peter Rosegger's birthplace – open daily from 10 AM during the season, closed on mondays.
