Ski tour to the Gemeindealpe

To the left of the former inn Zellerrain we follow a forest road (red marking) comfortably ascending in the forest to a beautiful clearing with an estate. In eastern direction at the edge of a reforestation climb more steeply, then in the forest into a saddle (on the right the dilapidated Brunnsteinalm).

East around the knoll Pkt. 1409 m on a level forest road in a generally northeasterly direction through forest, then gently ascending over clearings to a hill, 1468 m (hut, cross "Eiserner Herrgott", view).

From here on clearly more demanding terrain: East over the partly narrow, weakened ridge (caution!) to a saddle, 1420 m, and counter-ascent to Pkt. 1462 m. On the broader ridge, which is more docile from here on, at first flat, then clearly ascending in narrow hairpin bends (not too far to the right!) higher. In the upper part, the ridge is sometimes blown off without snow. Finally over the extensive summit crest past a mighty post directional radio station on the right to the Terzerhaus at the top station of the chairlift.(Source: Alpenvereinaktiv.com / Csaba Szépfalusi)

For the descent we have the following possibilities:   

• on the ski slopes of the Mitterbach municipal alp to the valley of Mitterbach   
• by chairlift to the valley of Mitterbach   
• on the same way back to the starting point at Zellerrain
