Patscharound with "Patschanose", Naas

The Patscharound hiking trail leads along a beautiful forest path, starting at the Vögelhütte in Naas around the Patscha to the summit of the Patscha, and back via the Patschanose.
On the Patscharound hiking trail, every nature lover gets their worth due to the dreamlike view on all sides. Only a few minutes by car from Weiz, the Patscha is perfect for a short hike with the whole family. The small, fine mountain is inviting at any time of the year and the route over the Patschanose even offers a great view into the Weizklamm gorge and all the way to Weiz. The hike leads along idyllic hiking trails through the middle of the forest. There are two slight inclines, but they are easily manageable. On this hiking trail you can relax and really enjoy nature.

Route planner

  • We start at the Patscha parking lot (SAM stop WZ 2818) and walk down the road to the access to the hiking/cycling trail "Anschluss 763, Sattelkreuz - St. Kathrein".
  • There we turn right onto the farm track, now it goes slowly uphill.
  • At the crossroads, stay on trail no. 763 and continue straight ahead.
  • Be careful not to miss the turn-off to the left(path no. 763 a).
  • We now walk out onto the Patscha-Nase, past a resting place we now come to the magnificent viewpoints above the Weizklamm: in front of us the Wolfsattel with quarry, behind it the Schöckl and then the Passailer Kessel with the Rote Wand in the background. Please be careful here, it is a steep descent and there is no protection!
  • Continuing along the path, we reach the well-known "3 Churches View", from here we can see the churches of Fladnitz an der Teichalm, Passail and St. Kathrein am Offenegg.
  • We continue along the path to the next vantage point. From here we can see St. Kathrein and the Sommeralm area with the only wind turbine in the Almenland Nature Park.
  • We walk out along the edge of the precipice to the Patscha saddle with a wayside cross and rest area.
  •  We continue straight ahead along the farm track in the direction of "Patschaberg/Gschaid, path no. 763".

  • At the next crossroads at the small hut, we turn left uphill.

  • At the next crossroads, continue straight ahead.

  • We walk the last few meters to the summit cross along the pasture fence.

  • The Patscha summit cross is located on a high plateau with pasture, to the right in front of us we see the Zetz, to the right below is Weiz. The rock with the cross serves as an altar during mountain masses up here.

  • We continue straight ahead along the pasture fence in the direction of "St. Kathrein/Gschaid".

  • After the rest area, we keep to the right and continue our leisurely hike through the forest.

  • When we reach the farm track, we continue out to the right.

  • At the large crossroads, we turn right towards "Vogelhube/Weiz, trail no. 745".

  • We follow the gravel path out to the Vogelhütte, which is privately owned.

  • There we turn left down into the road and walk back to the parking lot.

Take a snack with you and enjoy it on the benches at the summit.
