Places of interest outside of Styria
Ternberg
The last chance to look back into the mountains before you come to the lowlands! Ternberg is called the "gateway to the Enns Valley" for a reason. It connects the rolling hills near Steyr with the wooded mountains around Kalkalpen National Park.

About the region
Before you arrive in Ternberg, you will encounter the "world record pen knife" directly on the Enns Cycling Path. Immediately afterwards is the start of a road through the narrow "Valley of Pen Knife Makers" to Trattenbach. The world-famous pen knives (jack knives) have been produced here for nearly 500 years and still are today. Since 2015, the traditional production process that you can still watch live today has been deemed a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
