Our farm is located in an absolute silent location in the middle of the vineyards.
Since 1998, the brothers Christian and Thomas Polz run the sixteen and a half hectare winery in Graßnitzberg in southern Styria. Then eighteen and twenty-three years old, they took over the business due to the early death of their father. The competences are clearly distributed from the beginning: Christian Polz, as cellar master, takes care of the development of the wines, Thomas Polz, as master vintner, is responsible for the vineyards and marketing. Many tasks intertwine, and that is a good thing. Especially when it comes to vinification, the brothers work hand in hand. They would like to maintain the current size of the winery in order to remain true to the craftsmanship. They are no longer striving for further growth. The winery did not receive its current name until 1985, when it was converted to a vineyard with three hectares of vineyards and an attached vineyard. Martha and Primus Polz, the owners at the time and parents of the Polz brothers, acquired another new one and a half hectares of vineyards in their region and four more in the wine-growing area called "Lower Styria" in nearby Slovenia in the following years.
The reason for this acquisition was the excellent location, the optimal orientation of the vineyards and the geographical proximity. The best argument, however, was the predominant shell limestone and Opok soils (gray limestone marl - a mixture of limestone and clay). They have excellent characteristics for great wines and are located on the Slovenian side of the Hochgrassnitz mountain, called "Kresnica" and on the Zieregg side, "Ciringa".Wine tastings are held at any time by appointment.
Our Buschenschank can be visited by appointment!
