Grubbründlweg Thannhausen
The 15-kilometre trail is a varied, beautiful nature trail. The Thannhausen Way of the Cross and the Grubbründl Chapel are located along the route.
The Grubbründlweg trail from Thannhausen leads via the Way of the Cross to the Calvary and then further along the Franziskusweg trail to the Grubbründl Chapel. You then return via another nature trail, which offers many great views. The circular trail is perfect for a day trip for the whole family. Nature trails, forests, bridges, rivers and much more await you on this tour.

The district capital Weiz is located in Eastern Styria and is easily accessible via the A2 from Vienna (approx. 2 hours) and from Graz (approx. 30 minutes).
- Arrival from Vienna and Graz: Take highway exit 161 / Gleisdorf West on the A2 from Vienna in the direction of B54 / B64. Follow the B65 / Gleisdorfer Bundesstraße until you reach the B54 / Wechselbundesstraße. At the traffic circle, take the second exit to the B64 / Rechberg-Bundesstraße. After about 15 km you will reach the district capital Weiz.
- Coming from Graz via the federal highway: take Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Kai and Wickenburggasse to Jahngasse / B67a. Follow the B72 to Weiz and take the exit towards Weiz -West.From Weiz, follow the road in the direction of Thannhausen. The Thannhausen municipal office is located on the left-hand side.
Route planner
We start our tour at the Thannhausen community center. First we follow the road towards the castle wall and then turn right at the first crossroads. There we can already see the first wayside shrine of the Thannhausen Way of the Cross. We keep to the right at the road junction and then turn left onto a gravel path at the next opportunity. We pass a large gray house on the left and enter the forest. We follow the crossroads until we come to a road.Follow the road up to a left-hand bend and then turn right into the forest. We now follow the path through the forest until we come to a field. We walk along the meadow path to the next crossroads, cross the road and follow the signpost number 25.We soon reach the road again and follow it until we see the Milchhäusl on the right-hand side. Keep right there and follow the road to its end. When we reach Enge, we stand in front of the entrance to a farm.We walk across the meadow towards the forest. After crossing the bridge, we follow the path out of the forest again until we come to a road and then follow the road to the left. Shortly afterwards, the path leads to the right across a meadow into the forest. Following the forest path, we soon reach the Grubbründl chapel. We return via the narrow path to the right of the chapel. We follow this path until we reach a road again. We have
