Travelling to Wildalpen by car:

From Vienna: A1 Westautobahn exit Ybbs via Wieselburg, Scheibbs and Lunz/See to Göstling an der Ybbs continue in the direction of Palfau, at the Erzhalden junction turn off to Wildalpen.

From Vienna, Eisenstadt: Semmeringschnellstraße S6, near Mürzzuschlag onto the B23 Mariazeller Bundesstrasse and Mürzsteg and Wegscheid to Gusswerk and on the Hochschwab Bundesstrasse B 24 to Wildalpen.

From Linz: A1 to Voralpenkreuz junction, A9 to Windischgarsten, Unterlaussa, Altenmarkt, Grossreifling, Palfau and Wildalpen

From Salzburg: A1 on A9 to exit Ardning/Admont, Gesäusebundesstrasse and B24 to Wildalpen

From Graz: A9 Pyhrnautobahn, exit, Traboch (near Leoben) via Präbichl/Eisenerz, Hieflau, Landl, Gams to Palfau at the Erzhalden junction turn off to Wildalpen.

The Krumpenrunde has an orange route colour as an intermediate marker. The running and walking route is only signposted in one direction. You start at the large signpost next to the Barbara Church in Wildalpen and walk to the Salza, cross it over the campsite bridge and follow the signs to Hopfgarten. After a while you reach the Karin's Stub'n snack station and an aqueduct of the II Vienna HochQuellen water pipeline. Continue a little further until you reach the turn-off to the right to the Krumpenalm. A gravel path now leads to the Krumpenalm (unfortunately, there is no refreshment stop at this alp). At the Krumpenalm alpine meadow, a junction leads to the right, you hike a piece of the path and keep left until a little path branches off from the gravel road and leads down to Casari in the Holzäpfeltal valley. At the asphalt road in the Holzäpfeltal you hike to the right until you reach the Jausenstation Astrid and always follow the road back to the centre of the village to the starting point.

Refreshment stops: Jausenstation Karin's Stub`n in Hopfgarten, Jausenstation Astrid in Holzäpfeltal and Cafe Restaurant Grabner and Hotel Bergkristall in the village centre.
