Sveti Janez - gems for the tour book.

The Sveti Janez - Remsnik - St. Pongratzen tour is an absolute jewel among the boundless Eibiswald mountain bike tours.
As is well known, jewels are all kinds of precious jewellery, especially those containing one or more precious stones set in precious metal. The gems on this tour can be found on both the Austrian and the Slovenian side. On the Austrian side, the ascent via Sterglegg, Stammeregg and the Römerweg to the Radlpass as well as the descent from St. Pongratzen to Lateindorf are real tour highlights. On the Slovenian side, the panoramic route from the Radlpass road over to Remsnik and on to St. Pongratzen is an incomparable gravel road treat, garnished with fantastic views of the Slovenian Drau Valley. As a mountain bike or gravel road enthusiast, you absolutely must have these gems in your (digital) tour book.

The "Sveti Janez - Remschnik - St. Pongratzen: Gems for the Tour Book" loop is the mountain bike tour of your choice, if you

  • already know the routes at the Austrian foot of the giant "Kapunerkogel" and want to make a wonderful detour to the Slovenian side of the Remschniggs,

  • From the Radlpass, first take the main road in the direction of Radlje and then, following the navigation system, turn left onto the gravel road in the direction of Sveti Janez.
  • Follow the fantastic gravel road eastwards via Sveti Janez to Remsnik and over to St. Pongratzen, always varied uphill and downhill with fantastic viewpoints down into the Slovenian Drau Valley.
  • From the crossroads below St. Pongratzen, turn left and take the last gentle climb over to the Wutschnig-Legat inn.
  • From there, it pays to make a detour up to the St. Pongratzen church (very steep - pushing passage). If you are lucky, the church tower is open and you can climb a well-renovated staircase to the viewing platform at the church tower.
  • From St. Pongratzen you finally roll comfortably down to Lateindorf and back to Eibiswald.

Es lohnt sich auch ein kurzer Abstecher in den Ort Remsnik - gegenüber der Kirche gibt es ein kleines Cafe ;-)
