The Weinitzen weather tower in the Niederschöckl district is the middle of three weather towers in addition to St. Radegund and Kainbach bei Graz, which are roughly equidistant and almost in a straight line to each other. The year of construction, 1824, is engraved on the 15 m high weather tower. In contrast to earlier times, when the bells announced bad weather, today they announce happy events such as births or weddings.
The Styrian Violin Day was born in the 1970s as the result of a small, but fine idea - namely to give more importance to popular violin playing. For more than 30 years, violinists from all over Austria and neighboring countries have come together every two years for a polyphonic celebration.
