HIKING NEAR THE CITY
Graz Castle Hill with its clock tower is not only a landmark of the historic old town, but also a symbol of Graz as a walkable city with its green hills and many walking and hiking trails.
Locals and guests alike are often surprised at how many beautiful hiking trails there are in the city area of Graz. In addition to the Schloßberg (474 m) and the Reinerkogel (500 m) in the middle of the city, the most important elevations are the Buchkogel (600 m), the Plabutsch with the highest point in Graz, the Fürstenstand (763 m), the forests around the Gösting ruins, the Platte with the historic Stefaniewarte (651 m) and the popular chains of hills in the east of the city from Mariatrost to Lustbühel. Beautiful walking and hiking trails, small side roads or hidden paths and trails lead to all of these green hills and hills - and there is even a water-bearing gorge, the Rettenbachklamm.
Off to the beautiful, green countryside!
FROM CITY TO COUNTRYSIDE IN 10 MINUTES
And of course, the city walks can be perfectly combined with the beautiful green surroundings and lead, for example, far into the Hügelland and Schöcklland in the north - it's not for no reason that the Graz Region says: "From city to countryside in 10 minutes!"
