HWW-Bicycle route: St. Lorenzen/Wechsel - Römerhütte - Rohrbach/Lafnitz - Bründlkapelle - Kroisegg - Lafnitz

This HWW cycle route is part of the Wechselland Historical Long-Distance Hiking Trail (HWW), which tells the story of Wechselland along more than 100 HWW stations. More information can be found at www.wechsel-wandern.at.
This HWW cycle route leads from St. Lorenzen/Wechsel via the Römerhütte to Rohrbach/Lafnitz and from there via the Bründlkapelle chapel and the Steinpeißwald forest to Lafnitz. Along the HWW cycle route you come to the Steinpeißwald HWW station, where you learn that there was once a defensive fortification there in the times of the invasions.

Arrival by car

  • Take the A2 (south highway) until you reach the Pinggau exit.
  • Leave the highway at the exit and turn left onto the B63 towards Pinggau.
  • Follow the B63 and after approx. 3 km turn right onto the B54 towards St. Lorenzen am Wechsel. After about 5 km, turn right again into the village.
The tour is not signposted throughout. Route guidance with app recommended.
  • The route starts in St. Lorenzen am Wechsel.
  • The trail leads from St. Lorenzen am Wechsel to the Römerhütte.
  • The ride continues inthe direction of Rohrbach an der Lafnitz.
  • The route continues to the Bründl Chapel.
  • The route then runs through the Steinpeißwald forest.
  • The route finally ends in Lafnitz.
We recommend taking a short break at the Römerhütte leisure center to play a round of mini golf or watch the animals.

For local transportation we recommend the SAM-Sammeltaxi Oststeiermark.

You can park at the Kulturhaus in St. Lorenzen am Wechsel.
