Bread as it used to be - experience how bread was baked and utilised sustainably in the Graz Region!
In the past, there was no bakery around the corner - baking bread was a necessity and a real craft. But how was bread baked without modern ovens and supermarket ingredients? And what happened to leftover bread?
On the tours at 11:00 and 14:00 at the Stübing Open-Air Museum in Styria, you will learn everything from the preparation of the dough to the baking process - back then, everything was done by hand. Every loaf of bread was a joint effort and had to keep for a long time. Leftover bread was never thrown away, but used in creative ways. Experience how people worked their magic with delicious ingredients and wasted nothing.
