On 15 August 2025, the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary, the Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing in Styria invites you to its traditional Herb Day. This day offers a varied programme for the whole family around the theme of herbs.
Programme overview:
- 9:00-11:00 am: Under guidance, visitors of all ages can make their own herb bouquets. These bouquets traditionally consist of seven or more different medicinal herbs that symbolise health and protection.
- 11.00 a.m.: Ceremonial consecration of the herb bouquets, the blessed herbs are said to bring healing to humans and animals and protect them from harm.
- From 9.00 a.m.: Various stations provide information about the properties, use and processing of herbs. Learn interesting facts about traditional crafts that are thematically related to herbs.
- 1.00 pm: Traditional maypole cutting at the inn. This event is celebrated with music and culinary delicacies centred around herbs.
