From November 16, 2024, to June 26, 2025, the Graz Opera presents Gioachino Rossini’s La Cenerentola, a dramma giocoso in two acts. Directed by the young Italian director Ilaria Lanzino, this vibrant fairytale world is given a fresh perspective, challenging traditional Cinderella stereotypes.
The story follows Angelina, known as Cenerentola, who lives a sorrowful life with her stepfather and two selfish stepsisters after her mother’s death. Marriage to a prince seems impossible. However, Prince Don Ramiro, in search of a bride, devises a scheme of mistaken identities to find someone who loves him for who he truly is. In the end, true love prevails, and Cinderella and the prince unite.
