Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of STEIERMARK SCHAU 2025, which takes place from 26 April to 2 November 2025 in the magnificent Eggenberg Palace in Graz. Under the motto ‘Ambition & Illusion’, this exhibition invites visitors to rediscover the history of the palace and its inhabitants.
To mark the 400th anniversary of the palace, the show offers an unadulterated look at the past and draws parallels with the present. Visitors can explore the magnificent rooms and the impressive Planetary Hall, which were once used to stage a princely family.
The exhibition is accompanied by three innovative pavilions that address and reflect current social issues under the title ‘History Repeating?’. These mobile structures, designed by Graz-based architecture firm studioWG3, combine art, architecture and history in a creative way.
Did you know that Schloss Eggenberg has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2010 and that the architecture and furnishings combine to form a symbolic representation of the universe?
In particular, the number symbolism of the Gregorian calendar is reflected in the architecture:
The palace has
- 365 windows (=days of the year),
- 31 rooms per floor (=maximum number of days in a month),
- 24 state rooms (=hours of the day) with 52 doors (=weeks of the year) and a total of 60 windows (=minutes and seconds),
- 4 corner towers (=4 seasons).
