Winklern circular trail (path 5)

A family-friendly cicular trail that runs without significant inclines both along the southern edge of the Wölzer valley and at the bottom of the valley.
A perfect way to get to know the surroundings and nature of Oberwölz. The outward route is mostly in the shade, the return route entirely in the sun.

More information

Coming from Judenburg via Unzmarkt to Scheifling. Here turn right in the direction of Murau. In Niederwölz turn right again and drive to Oberwölz.

Coming from Tamsweg via Ranten (or Stadl an der Mur) to Murau. Continue to Niederwölz - turn left here and drive to Oberwölz.

From the information center opposite the town parish church follow the signs to the leisure center (Attention: at the Hintereggertor turn left, along the town wall!).

Continue in the direction of the sports field. Directly behind the training ground you enter the area of the high ropes course. In the climbing area keep to the right. Before leaving the forest, turn left onto a path that forks after about 30 meters.

Follow the signs "3er-Weg". After the "Maierhäusl" straight ahead you will see a small meadow after a few meters. Before entering this meadow, keep to the left and follow a slightly ascending path into the forest. Soon you reach the restaurant Kammersberger, cross the state road and follow a forest path to the west. This turn into a forest road and then again into a forest road that leads out of the forest. You can now see a village of the Maindardsdorf on the right in the valley bottom, which you reach on the forest road. Immediately after the bridge over the Hintereggerback stream, follow the markings to the left. On the gravel road you reach the villag Winklern at a waste material collection center. Follow the asphalt road, aslways with the church in sight. After crossing the main road, a footpath leads to the church on the "Lindenbühel".

From the church Maria "Altötting" you go back the same way to Mainhardsdorf. From there you follow the path in the valley bottom to Oberwölz.
