Johann Joseph Fux (1660 - 1741) is considered by experts to be the greatest Baroque musician of his time. His impressive work as a musician, composer and teacher fully justifies this reputation. He served three emperors and reached the highest musical rank of the empire under Emperor Charles VI: “Imperial Court Kapellmeister”.

The journey of this extraordinary talent began on a modest farm in Hirtenfeld near Graz. Although many traces, especially in his youth, are not always traceable, his path to the imperial city of Vienna and his musical triumph remains admirable and inspiring. In 1904, a memorial plaque was placed on the house where he was born in Hirtenfeld.
