St. Lawrence Parish Church

Edelschrott

The parish of Edelschrott belongs to the deanery of Voitsberg just like the parish of St. Martin am Wöllmißberg and is dedicated to St. Laurentius.

The Romanesque parish church in Edelschrott was first mentioned in a document in 1245 and has as a special feature a mighty tower with an onion helmet and lantern.

The high altar features statues by Balthasar Prandtstätter and an image of St. Laurence. Late Baroque Stations of the Cross, a statue of the Immaculata, a Baroque pew, an organ and restored glass chandeliers from the 18th century are particularly worth seeing in this church.

Every year at the beginning of August, there is a festival around the saint's name day.
