Ströhberne Bridge

Edelschrott

The Ströhberne Bridge is a listed bridge on the Hirzmann Reservoir that was built in 1816. It still serves public transport today and is a popular destination for excursions with its unique roof.

The Ströberne Bridge, a beautiful photo motif, was built in 1816 and was the municipal boundary between Sankt Martin am Wöllmißberg and Edelschrott until 1952. Originally it was 14 m long and served to cross the Teigitschbach stream. The bridge is a listed building and is often used as an idyllic excursion destination in the midst of untouched nature.

At 11.50 m, the "Ströhberne Bridge" is still suitable for general, public traffic of up to ten tonnes.

The last renovation took place in 2014, when the classic straw covering was replaced by a covering of reeds. The straw covering could not be realised due to the lack of supply of straw coverings in Austria. Together with the Federal Office for the Protection of Monuments, the decision was therefore made in favour of the reed roofing variant, which is characterised by a similar appearance and durability. Martin Höllisch from Purbach am Neusiedler See was responsible for the renovation work.
