Waldseppl circuit, Penzendorf
Forest, Waalweg and wine in Hartbergerland! The Waldsepplrunde is a quiet hiking area in the north-west of the town of Hartberg.
On this circular trail, you walk past a few houses, through beautiful mixed forests and well-tended flower meadows. At the Waldseppl farm and the Gruber wayside cross, you have a beautiful view of Hartbergerland. Part of the hike (along the descent towards the Spielstätte) is also on the 27th stage of the northern route "From glacier to wine". A glass of wine and refreshments at one of our restaurants or taverns is a great way to end the hike.

Penzendorf
- From the Penzendorf municipal office, we walk uphill along the asphalt road and turn right after a few meters to the Pack winery/bush tavern.
- At the end of the road, we walk uphill through the vineyard (trail marker 2).
- Turn right across the meadow, cross an asphalt road and walk uphill through the forest until you reach a clearing (you can already see the Hartberg Ringwarte in front of you).
- At the next bend, we turn right and follow the markings to the junction of hiking trails 2 and 8.
- Now we follow trail 8, along the forest road, downhill, over a forest stream to a wayside shrine.
- On the asphalt road to the right, we come to the small settlement of Staudach Fünfhöf.
- At the next bend to the right, we turn left into a cul-de-sac. We follow this road uphill through beautiful meadows, past the Winkelbauer farm.
- In a sharp right-hand bend, we turn left onto the hiking trail.
- Now it's 2.3 km uphill to the Waldseppl crossroads. Here we turn left, slightly uphill, past the Glößl farm (Waldseppl).
- We follow path 943 across the meadow and reach the highest point at the Gruber Kreuz. We continue on level ground until we see the "Waldklause" signpost and follow path 907 downhill to the left.
- After the Hochwarth/Lehnermühle bus stop, the path branches off to the left into the forest.
- We follow the artificial irrigation channel until we reach the parking lot of the Ringwarte.
- There, path no. 2 leads left into the forest, downhill to a junction we already know where we now turn right.
- We follow the familiar ascent route for approx. 800 meters. At the junction to the right, however, we keep straight on and walk downhill until we come to an asphalt road.
- Here we turn right and walk uphill for a short distance until we reach the houses, where we turn left downhill back to the Pack winery.
Extension from the playground (car park) to the Ringwarte with refreshments and guaranteed views!
From the parking lot of the venue, it is worth taking a short detour to the Ringwarte and enjoying the view over the East Styrian hills.
