Where do relaxed skiing enjoyment and long-standing traditions meet? Around the snow-covered lakes of the Ausseerland in the Salzkammergut region. Family winter bliss and sporty challenges for snow fans: This is what the ski resorts of Stuhleck, Präbichl, Mariazeller Bürgeralpe, Niederalpl, Hohe Veitsch and Aflenzer Bürgeralm around Hochschwab and in the Mürztal valley combine. Seasoned pros get to challenge themselves on downhill runs with a gradient of up to 43 per cent – but even if you prefer your slopes to be not quite as steep, these ski resorts are perfect for you. Many families like to come here for a day trip or holiday.

By the way: Alpine skiing's triumphal success in the entire Alpine region started in Stuhleck more than 120 years ago. Today, four cable cars and chairlifts take skiers and snowboarders up to an altitude of almost 1,800 metres. The ski resorts between Salzstiegl and Koralm, located west of Graz, offer leisurely fun on the slopes between Schilcherland and Lipizzanerheimat. Après-ski means above all enjoyment – and that's what you'll experience at the rustic wine taverns along the Wine Roads and at the local inns.

The small ski resorts of East Styria are equally as stunning. From the Almenland Nature Park to Joglland and the Wechsel region, a combination of gentle slopes, warm hospitality and beautiful winter scenery impresses holidaymakers.
