More information

The best way to get to Bad Mitterndorf is with google.at/maps.

The Obersdorf circular trail (Geo Trail) begins in Bad Mitterndorf at Haus Trinkl at the western entrance to Bad Mitterndorf. From the district Rödschitz Reith the circular trail is identical with the forest trail no. 17 from Bad Mitterndorf to Obersdorf. Going through Obersdorf, you go around the Kumitzberg (pilgrimage church Maria Kumitz), follow the path further through the underpass at the federal road, and then go along the Obersdorfer Moos to the estate "Pleam". From there, the Laasenweg trail no. 22 leads back to the starting point at Haus Trinkl.

Along this trail you learn a lot about,

  • what the geology of the region and the rocks found here are like
  • How these rocks were formed and what forces have shaped today's landscape
  • which varied faces a torrent can take on
  • How the ice age shaped the landscape and is responsible for the formation of the numerous moors
  • how the ore from the Hinterberger Teltschenalm was brought to the valley in a laborious way
  • what makes the landscape around Obersdorf so interesting and varied
  • what diverse stories the houses in Obersdorf have to tell
  • how the valley watershed near Obersdorf separates two river systems.
