Florianiberg and Gedersberg
A circular hike with surprises: Pre-Christian settlements, vineyards, viewing platforms and an unexpected ski slope can be discovered in the south-west of Graz.
This varied hike begins in Straßgang at the largest natural swimming pool in Graz. The first stop is the pilgrimage church Maria im Elend, which is well worth seeing, before heading into the forest to the legendary Florianikirchlein and up to the Florianiberg. Excavations here bear witness to human settlement as early as 4 millennia before Christ, perhaps also because you have a sensational view of the Graz basin from up here. Between vineyards and forest paths, the trail leads towards Buchkogel to the new viewing ramp, where you can also enjoy a wonderful view of Western Styria and the Gleinalm. The way back leads down to Seiersberg-Pirka via the Mariazellerweg and over a former ski slope in Gedersberg back to the bus station.
