Wildalm and 3-summit tour in the Wölzer Tauern
“The summit realms":
This enjoyable alpine pasture and ridge hike in the Wölzer Tauern with three or even four peaks starts at the Pusterwald gold panning facility, where you can try your luck after your hike.
With the Wildalm and the Wildalmhütte, you already reach an attractive hiking area in the Wölzer Tauern after a short ascent. Over the summer months, you will find several hundred sheep around the Wildalm, which are allowed to graze on these lush alpine pastures. Starting from the Wildalm, which is one of the most beautiful Styrian sheep pastures, you can also make a wonderful high-altitude tour and hike to three or four peaks above 2000 meters. The ridge hike leads over the Kleinhansl (2217 m), the Jauriskampl (2064 m) to the Hirnkogel (2012 m). And the icing on the cake is the exposed path from Kleinhansl to Großhansl (2217 m), where sure-footedness and a head for heights are required. In short: A multifaceted hiking area that has something to offer for every taste!

Von Judenburg über die B 114 in Richtung Hohentauern (36 km, ca. 40 Minuten).
Von Trieben an der Pyhrn Autobahn A 9 über die B114 Richtung Judenburg (48 km, ca 50 Minuten)
We start at the summer parking lot (1), 1412 m, in the Scharnitzgraben and go immediately right over the bridge. The slightly ascending forest road leads past the base of the mountain and nature guard (Jaurishütte) and over several, smaller streams, until after about 1.3 km we see the entrance to the hiking trail on the left. The trail leads partly a bit steeper uphill through the forest until we reach the forest road or access road to the Wildalm again. Who wants to have it more comfortable, can also go out the forest road. Continue in serpentines along the road until you reach the cozy hut of the Wildalm (2), 1753 m. Passing the hut on the left, we hike across the alpine pastures in the direction of Kleinhansl (Klein Hansl) and Jauriskampel (Jauriskampl). At the beginning we hike through low mountain pine fields and follow the stream comfortably uphill until after a short time we can recognize our first goal in the distance, the Kleinhansl, at the summit cross. At the Jauriskampel crossroads, we continue straight ahead and soon reach the Schinderbrunnderl. Following serpentines we reach our first summit, the Kleinhansl (3), 2217m. Here you have the possibility to continue to Großhansl (2.315 m) via an unmarked path. This detour (approx. 1 hour there and back) is worthwhile, but surefootedness and a head for heights are required. From Kleinhansl we go back a bit and then continue along the ridge towards the northeast. The path can be recognized, but there are no markings or signposts. The rest of the trail tends to fall downhill, and we are mostly at an altitude of about 2000 meters above sea level. The second peak, the Jauriskampel (4), 2064 m, is already clearly visible from a distance due to the rugged rock. Shortly before the summit, you have the option of descending into the cirque via the marked trail. However, we stay on the path and continue our high-altitude hike. After a short time, the path can be seen on the right below the ridge. We pass under the Edelweißwand and remain more or less always at the same altitude. Since there are several paths, mostly parallel, you can only orientate yourself by sight. After passing under the Gruber Hirnkogel, which has no summit cross, we reach the Hirnkogel (5), 2012 m, and thus our third summit. A few meters straight back and then we see on the left the red-white-red markings and the climb. From now on we go continuously downhill over the alpine pastures until we reach the striking rock formations and subsequently over an overgrown forest path to the Wildalmhütte (2), 1753 m. The rest of the descent follows the already known ascent route.
The high-altitude hike is only recommended in good visibility, as there are virtually no markings or signposts to be found here.
The starting point of the hike cannot be reached by public transport.
