Weißeck starting in Unzmarkt-Frauenburg

We start at the train station in Unzmarkt (1), 730 m, and walk upstream on the right bank until we cross the Mur at the cycle and pedestrian bridge (2), 723 m. Now we follow the road straight ahead until we reach the newly built bypass, where we cross the road on the right at the traffic circle. On an asphalt road, the hiking trail leads past farms and a few houses, slightly uphill. After a short time, we are on a continuously ascending gravel road that leads across cultivated fields and, from an altitude of approx. 1200 m, into a shady forest. Staying on the forest road, past the Martha hut (3), 1393 m, we soon reach the alpine pastures around the private Weißeck hut (4), 1585 m. Behind the hut, the trail begins, which is somewhat steeper as it leads up to the Weißeck (5), 1743 m. A summit cross, wooden benches, a radio transmitter and a view of the first 3000 m peaks of the Hohe Tauern await us at our destination.

An alternative for a descent is to take trail 311a to Scheifling. 

Take the train or bus to Unzmarkt-Frauenburg station.
