Legend Trail (Sagenpfad)

The Legend Trail is a circular walk starting from the center of Fürstenfeld, passing through the Buchwald countryside to Altenmarkt and back to the main square via the retail park.
With this circular walk you get to know the city of Fürstenfeld and its surroundings well. For the theme trail there is a free audio guide and an overview map, which can be picked up at the office of the tourist office (please note opening hours). The Legend Trail leads from the center or the first station - the Pfeilburg Museum - through the town and further southwest into the beautiful nature and recreation area Buchwald. The stations in the Buchwald are suitable for young and old and can be easily hiked even in the hot summer months, as the beautiful mixed forest not only provides pleasant shade, but also surprises with numerous resting and active places. Thus, the Buchwald forest is the natural centerpiece of the trail, with the majority of the Sagenpfad stations. The rest of the trail is on side roads, so you walk through the small village of Altenmarkt, passing directly by the specialty store center and the largest outdoor pool in Europe.

You can find detailed information on how to get here.
We start the hike at the main square of Fürstenfeld and walk along the narrow Kaserngasse to the first station of the theme trail, the Pfeilburg Museum. In front of the inner courtyard we turn right and follow the Klostergasse to the Augustinerkirche. Keeping to the right here, continue to the Grazer Tor or the sculpture "B'soffener Türck". Pass through the Grazer Tor and immediately turn left through the Wallgraben and continue straight ahead, following the street name Dreikreuzweg. It goes comfortably uphill through the populated area until we reach a crossroads on the hill. After the detour to the left to the three crosses or the viewpoint with prism, we continue to the right following the asphalt road. At the end of the ridge road we go slightly downhill to the right and at the next crossroads to the left. Now we continue along the asphalt road for a while until we turn right onto a gravel road that leads to the start of the forest trail and thus through the "Buchwald" landscape area. Here we are also above the campsite. The next section is marked by motor park stations and information boards. For the time being on a height comfortably along, then over the Klinserl-Steig into the ditch downhill and in succession to the Ehpress-guard uphill. The path further through the forest is easy to find with the wooden boards and the red-white-red markings and ends at the edge of the forest, at the turnoff to the Buschenschank Bliemel. We walk a short distance along the Feistritz, continue over the bridge and reach the beginning of Altenmarkt bei Fürstenfeld. Through the settlement we keep to the right and reach the center of Altenmarkt with the Kirchenwirt and the church. Passing the elementary school, along the Museumgasse and further through the populated area always straight ahead until we come directly to the Fachmarktzentrum Fürstenfeld. At the intersection we change the side of the road and see a sign "Footpath to the open-air swimming pool", thus we leave the hustle and bustle around the shopping center. The path leads us directly to the entrance of the outdoor pool, then we turn left and immediately right again slightly uphill. We stay more or less in a straight line until we come to the already known intersection Mozartstraße / Bergkammstraße. Now we turn left and come to the parking lot behind the Pfeilburg Museum. Through the grounds and the courtyard of the Pfeilburg we reach again the main square of Fürstenfeld and thus our starting point.
