This tour is dedicated to romantic nature lovers: along three mountain lakes you come across a wide rocky saddle and through a quiet valley to the banks of the Salzabach.
Many natural beauties await you on this tour: You walk across the idyllic Tauplitzalm, perhaps make a detour to the small mountain church with its stained glass windows, and arrive at Lake Tauplitz - it's a darkly shimmering moorland lake where dragonflies race. The meadows all around turn into a bright sea of flowers in early summer, where purple alpine rue, velvety blue gentian, hellebores and rock carnations bloom by the millions.

The journey to Tauplitz is best planned with google.at/maps. From there you can take the 4-seater chairlift to the high plateau.

By car, you can get to the Tauplitzalm from Bad Mitterndorf via the Tauplitzalm Alpine Road (toll).

You hike from the mountain station of the 4-seater chairban in an easterly direction, past the small mountain church.

At the Naturfreundehaus, the trail goes slightly downhill to Lake Tauplitz and from there in a westerly direction to Lake Großsee. Visitors love to linger there to feed the quacking ducks.

Continuing on, you soon come to the romantic Märchensee - an emerald green natural gem. Immediately afterwards you arrive at the Öderntörl, a wide rocky crossing between Schneiderkogel and Traweng. Here you hike on trail no. 272 into a quiet valley and follow the narrow trail downhill to the Ödernalm huts, which are located at 1,210 m above sea level.

Continue now on the forest road along the Salzabach stream, which slowly rushes downhill and soothes your senses with its murmur. After four kilometers you branch off at the raking place onto another forest road. From here, follow the marked route to Bad Mitterndorf and into the town center.From Bad Mitterndorf you can get back to Tauplitz by bus or train.

The 4-seater chairlift to the Tauplitzalm is in operation from the end of June to the beginning of September.

From Tauplitz train station to the valley station of the 4-seater chairlift is about a 20-minute walk.The bus stop is located directly at the valley station.
 

There are plenty of free parking spaces available.
