    Hiking, biking and golfing

Spring into spring in south-east Styria

Once all the winter sports gear has been neatly tucked away, hiking boots proudly reclaim their spot by the front door, ready for their first adventure. Good news: In the Thermen- & Vulkanland, the wait for springtime hiking ends early, thanks to the region’s mild climate. The area, a member of the Austrian Hiking Villages Association, invites nature enthusiasts to explore its beauty even before spring officially starts.

A few days after the start of spring, from 11 to 13 April 2025, the cycling season kicks off with AnRADeln in Bad Radkersburg. That’s when families, casual riders and competitive cyclists return to the region’s vast network of bike trails.

Golf also takes centre stage every spring. With four first-class golf courses, the Thermen- & Vulkanland region received the prestigious TravelPro Award and was deemed Austria’s most popular golf destination in 2024. This makes the region the perfect spot for an early start to your golfing year.

Following a day of activity, you can treat yourself to delicious culinary delights in the region’s restaurants and inns. Seasonal produce like wild garlic, asparagus and strawberries bring a taste of spring to your plate. And the Vulkanland Route 66 invites you on a culinary journey to discover the region’s tasty treasures.
