String quartet and flute
This year it is the flute, whose delicate sound meets the fullness of a philharmonic string quartet. While this fragile sound mixture often comes across as forced and strained in large halls, it achieves a natural fusion in this setting - ideal conditions for a brilliant flute quartet by Mozart, surrounded by works from two other composers of the Viennese Classical period.
