Due to Renate Theißl's very intensive occupation with the subject, the world's only bridge building museum was opened in 1998 in Edelsbach near Feldbach.
True-to-scale reconstruction of bridges
Thanks to an absolute career changer - Renate Theißl is a trained cook - many of the old bridges that once spanned our alpine streams, valleys and rivers in large numbers did not fall victim to the chainsaw or the excavator. As part of the "Original Bridge Preservation Program", these were moved to the open-air site in Edelsbach.
In the bridge building museum in Edelsbach near Feldbach, Renate Theißl has made it her life's work to collect bridges worthy of preservation and to reconstruct them true to detail. In the meantime, she has become a sought-after expert in bridge building.
Workshops are also offered: under expert guidance, participants can build their own model bridges.
