It was only around this time that the pressing of pumpkin seeds began, as previously only hemp and linseed were known as oil seeds.
With the introduction of hydraulic pressing devices, which replaced the previously laborious work of manual kneading and pressing, around 1950 the seed oil became the most used salad oil among the Styrian population.
