Forest hiking trail Bad Gams

Through the forest to the Reinischkogel: This route is recommended for hot days. You start in the spa gardens of Bad Gams, the path leads you to Hohenfeld where you are rewarded with a fantastic view over the Schilcherland.

After the start, follow trail marker 23, which first leads you along an asphalt road in the direction of Hohenfeld. The path is quite steeply ascending, but at the top at an altitude of around 600 metres, a highlight of the hike awaits you. You will be rewarded for your efforts by a wonderful view over the Schilcherland around Bad Gams.

Especially in autumn, the land below you shines in bright colours from yellow to deep red. Now you understand why this area is one of the most beautiful in Styria. These impressions will remind you of this hike many times and make many fans of the area come back again and again.

You cross the small romantically situated village with the significant name Dörfl, and follow the trail markings in the direction of Schneiderbauer and on to the Absetzwirt on the Rosenkogel, which is closed but has an "Olmbar" ready for the hungry hiker. This snack machine offers the ideal opportunity to get a snack or a drink for the break on the Rosenhügel. Keeping the markings in mind, we walk to the Absetzwirt, which is closed. From here, we climb up to the Reinischkogel summit cross with the lovely chapel next to it. The last section of the trail is mostly in the forest and relatively flat to the Reinischwirt. Don't lose sight of the markings, walk to the Absetzwirt, which is closed. From here, the ascent to the Reinischkogel summit cross with the lovely chapel next to it continues.

From here you will notice where the tour got its name. It now runs mostly on forest paths. The rustling of the leaves and the babbling brook give you strength and on hot summer days the leaves and the cold water provide cooling. Tired legs are quickly refreshed by a dip in the cold water. There are numerous opportunities for children to have exciting experiences by the stream. The game and brown trout can also be easily observed here.

At the water's edge it is important to recharge your batteries, because now comes the last ascent up to the Reinischkogel summit cross at 1463 metres above sea level. The cross, which is enthroned on a rock, is a popular photo motif to document what you have achieved on this day. Here you can chat about the experiences of the hike over a snack you brought with you.

From the highest point of the hike, the trail descends steeply through the forest before reaching the Reinischwirt, the destination of the hike.

Summit cross on the Reinischkogel: On a rock it looms over Bad Gams, the summit cross on the Reinischkogel. It is probably the perfect motif for the souvenir photo of this tour.
