THERMENLANDBUS
The Thermenland bus runs daily between Vienna and the Loipersdorf spa resort.
From the thermal spa there is a “feeder” to the actual circular trail. At the thermal baths, turn left towards Hotel Stoiser and then into the forest opposite, always following the signs for “Weg 3”. In the Dornegg area you come to the actual circular trail. Through a section of forest you reach the so-called Rehgraben. At the bottom of the valley, pay attention to the markings (briefly right, then left). At a crossroads you come to the road towards Stein. Turn left again here and after approx. 200 m follow the road to the right. You reach a hill with a beautiful panoramic view via winding roads with little traffic. Here the path continues to the left and after approx. 150 m you turn right into a short wooded area. You then bypass a farmstead and turn left. After approx. 500 m - after the first house on the right - you walk up the field path past vineyards and reach the highest point of the Stein district (375 m) at the elevated water tank. Shortly afterwards you come back to the municipal road, which you follow to the right. Soon after, the signs point left again onto a dirt road. When you reach the road, continue right and follow this flat ridge road for approx. 2 km until you reach a crossroads. Follow the road to the left here. Continue downhill for approx. 1.5 km to the Steiner fish pond.
Here you leave the road again for just under a kilometer and after the pond turn left along the disused quarry. Before the concrete remains of the “stone crusher”, turn right up the wooden steps. Stay right at the edge of the forest and after approx. 50 m turn right again along the dirt road. After a short, steeper climb past vineyards, you come to an asphalt road again and realize: we've been here before. The loop actually ends here and you follow the signs to the right back to the thermal baths the same way you came.
f you started at the sports field in Stein, you have completed about 1/4 of the loop and naturally turn left here and follow the signs and the description from the Dornegg area (see above). The sports field starters have to keep left at the end after the wooden stairs and then come back to the sports field on an asphalt access road.
