St. Johann in der Haide, train station

  • We start at the Waldbad in St. Johann in der Haide, near the train station, walk briefly on an asphalt road and then continue on a forest road into the forest.
  • We walk upstream along the edge of the forest until we come to an asphalt road again and go straight ahead at the first junction.
  • After a few meters, we turn left onto the meadow path that leads past a farm.Along the asphalt road, we reach a bridge and continue on the left bank until we reach the Unterlugnitz crossroads.
  • Now we walk uphill for a while until we see a field path on the left.
  • After walking downhill through the forest, we continue over a bridge to the Maierhofermühle mill.
  • We then briefly cross the border to Burgenland via the asphalt road and then turn right onto a dirt track until we reach the Lafnitz.
  • When we reach the road, we keep right, cross the Lafnitz and are back in Styria.
  • We cross the B50 road and walk along a gravel road around the fish ponds. Shortly before the highway underpass, we turn left across the meadows and then uphill through the forest.
  • Along the forest path we reach the calorie trail sign again and follow the markings until we reach the starting point again.
