G.E.R.A Park circuit, Eichberg

A fantastic circular trail around the Eichberger region - uphill and downhill! On the way through the East Styrian Hartbergerland is the Roman tomb in Lebing and the GERA Park lookout tower with a great distant view.

In and around Eichberg there is a lot to discover. During a leisurely hike through woods and meadows, you have the opportunity to explore the beautiful, typically East Styrian landscape of Eichberg and its surroundings and feel completely at home in nature. The 10 km long circular trail at GERA Park leads from one theme park to the next. Whether adventure water park with stream water Kneipp path, active park, forest and hunting nature trail with observation tower or the Mineralosium. This is a park for generations. The best place to start and finish is the parking lot at the Gasthof Pferschywirt.

And these are the reasons to make a trip to the G.E.R.A. Park:

  • exceptionally good air in Eichberg: large forest areas, many parks
  • theme parks: there is something for everyone/anyone
  • excellent gastronomic establishments nearby: "Eichbergerhof" Kohl, Gasthof-Pension "Pferschywirt", Buschenschank "Hammerl-Sterz
  • numerous hiking trails connect to the park

A variant: Start at the Pferschywirt

  • from the Pferschywirt we walk a few steps and then turn immediately left (according to the signs),
  • we keep to the signposts during the whole tour and thus do not turn right in the forest "to the Sepplbaum", but continue to keep to the left,
  • from now on the path leads us straight on slightly downhill,
  • at the bottom we turn right and follow the signs at the fork,
  • at the priority sign we continue left and after a straight stretch we come to the Roman grave in Lebing, where we continue straight ahead on the municipal road,
  • we pass a small chapel and at the bus stop on the left side we turn right and follow the road for the next 1.2 kilometers,
  • passing a farm we go downhill along the gravel road and turn right at the bottom of the road,
  • pass the bridge and follow the winding municipal road uphill through the forest,
  • at the end of the forest we now see the Mineralosolium on the left side, before we continue after a few deep breaths in here and we can already see the back of the Eichbergerhof,
  • we follow the bend to the right and pass the place name sign "Eichberg",
  • from here there are two possibilities: turn left (this is the way to Aichberg Castle) or turn right briefly and then immediately left again (see signposts)
  • if we choose the second option, the path leads us a bit steeper downhill next to the road,
  • before the large bridge you can choose whether you want to visit the large playground with Kneipp facility and refreshing brook (recommended!) and thus continue on the left or you decide for the path that continues on the right (also large playground),
  • from here it goes a little further through the forest,
  • past a pond with a hut uphill again, until you reach the country road and follow the path over the sidewalk to the Pferschywirt. (long straight line)

A little tip: Park at the Gasthof-Pension Pferschywirt and walk 500 metres along the forest and hunting trail directly to the viewing tower.

To replenish your energy reserves, we recommend the following catering establishments along the way:

Not far from the start and end point of the loop is the "black" Aichberg Castle, where you can visit an exhibition on Sundays or by appointment

Timetables and travel information can be found at the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) or at Verkehrsauskunft Verbundlinie. For local transportation we recommend the SAM-Sammeltaxi Oststeiermark.

e.g.: at the Pferschywirt, Kleinschlag 22 or at the Eichbergerhof, Eichberg 22
