More information
From the parking lot above the Loserhütte, the trail first leads down the access road to the Loserhütte. There, cross the ski slope - which is also visible in summer - diagonally to the west and follow the marked trail. Initially, the trail leads through the last stands of larch trees before the terrain opens up and the ascent over the steep slope towards Loser begins. Even here, impressive views of the Augstalm, the huge avalanche barriers, Lake Altaussee and the surrounding mountain landscape open up.
Once at the saddle, the path leads to the left towards the Loser summit. Below the path, the cascading rock formations catch the eye. From here, the trail also leads through the “Loser-Törl”. After a short time, you reach the summit cross - the perfect place for a summit rest with a magnificent panorama.
The descent initially follows the same route to the fork in the path. Now continue straight on over the ridge towards Hochanger until you reach the striking Loserfenster - an impressive rock formation through which you have a wide view of the Gschwandalm and Schönberg.
Above the mountain station of the Loserfenster lift, the trail leads through the rugged karst terrain towards Atterkogel. Shortly afterwards, the trail branches off steeply to the right and leads down to Lake Augstsee. Alternatively, there is a less steep path from the lift station. Right by the lake, there are once again breathtaking views of the Tote Gebirge mountains. A refreshing dip in the Augstsee or at least a short rest on the shore is a great way to relax.
From here, the trail continues to the Loseralm mountain restaurant. The trail then leads westwards below the mountain pine-covered rock faces to the valley station of the chairlift. Below the station, the solar panels of the solar power system mark the starting point of the tour. A stop at the Loserhütte is highly recommended - not only because of the legendary cream slices, but also because of the fantastic mountain panorama.
