Restaurants, huts and cafés in Ausseerland

If freshly cooked dishes are served in front of a magnificent view of the lakes and the Styrian mountains, then the moment of pleasure in Ausseerland is perfect.

Culinary specialties from Ausseerland

Ausseerland is Austria's geographical and culinary center at the same time. Fresh fish such as tender Arctic char - a culinary natural treasure - is fished from the magnificent lakes.

Speaking of fish, passionate cooks can also have the lake inhabitants from Ausseerland delivered directly to their homes and prepare them themselves. You can choose from fresh fish like char or smoked delicacies like Reinanke.

At the weekly markets, visitors experience a true pleasure trip through fresh fruit and vegetables as well as locally produced specialties such as pestos, dairy products as well as wine and schnapps.

The people of Aussee prove that culinary delights and tradition go hand in hand with their gingerbread. The dessert has been baked in Ausseerland using local craftsmanship since as early as 1584.

And for the perfect seasoning, nothing more is needed than pure rock salt from the Altaussee Salt World.
